I was born in a small town north of Christchurch, New Zealand in 1979, the second child of Geof and Viv d’Auvergne.
From a young age, I was encouraged to create – using everything from paint, clay, wood and fabric to
everything in-between. I remember mum letting me sit on her knee and use the
sewing machine when I was about five!
At 19 I left home and moved to Wellington to study Fashion Design at Massey University.
With Mum’s creative genes and Dad’s mathematical ones, I managed to graduate top of my class.
From there I went to work on such brands as State of Grace, Caroline Church, Elle Macpherson
Intimates and Stella McCartney lingerie. This gave me a wide range of skills and knowledge
of the industry at local and global levels.
I see myself as designer and engineer – having to think not only of the aesthetics of a product
but also how best to construct it. I am committed to high-quality, both in design and manufacture
because I want AVIVA products to enhance the lives of those who come into contact with them.
Thank you for joining me on my journey. I am excited about the future for AVIVA .
I believe this is only the beginning so watch this space!
